Privacy policy

RateCaddy is published by RateCaddy LLC. This text is identical to the Privacy policy inside the app (Settings, Legal). Last updated October 7, 2026.

Summary

RateCaddy has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no server of ours. We do not collect, receive, store, or sell any data about you or your projects. Everything you enter stays on your device unless you export or share it yourself.

What stays on the device

Projects, photographs, notes, test readings, schedules, builder and homeowner contacts, report information, your company logo, measure lists, code requirements, and settings are stored in the App's storage on your device. We cannot see any of it.

The only network activity: weather

The Weather option is off by default. Turning it on asks for your consent first. When it is on, the App sends the town and state from a project address, never the street address, to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's Nominatim service to find map coordinates, and then sends those coordinates to the National Weather Service (weather.gov) to fetch a forecast. That is the only data the App sends anywhere. Each of those services has its own privacy policy. Turn Weather off in Settings to stop this at any time.

Exports and backups

Report PDFs, photo ZIP files, and backup ZIP files go only where you send them through your device's share sheet, such as Files, iCloud, email, or AirDrop. We never receive them.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment information under its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details, billing address, or card information.

Photos and location

Photographs are saved at a reduced file size, and the information your camera recorded in them (capture time, camera, and location if your camera records it) is kept in the saved file and travels with your exports and backups. The App does not read that information, does not send it anywhere, and does not ask for your device's location. The weather on the Up Next card, when you turn it on, is looked up for the project's town, never for where the phone is.

Updates

The App does not contact RateCaddy LLC. Updates are delivered through the App Store or Google Play.

Children

The App is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If the App's behavior changes in a way that affects your privacy, this policy will be updated in the same App version that makes the change, and the version line under Settings will identify it.
